I don’t know what paper this article is from. I tried to find something online about it, but didn’t come up with anything. I got it from a decades-old photocopy from my cousin Misti that I scanned and stitched together.

I know it didn’t come from The Oregonian, because they also did a smaller article about the benefit. It’s locked behind a paywalled archive, so I’m not going to post it here. If you’re interested, you can let me know and I’ll tell you about it, or you can buy it in the archive. It’s in the Oregonian Historical Pages, titled, “Town rallies to help pay family’s bills”, and was published on September 7th, 1982.

Both articles switched my age with Cody, and our names in the picture description for this one. If you do read the following article, you'll see that even as a little kid, I was a bit of an asshole.
